 MoFA AUCTION TO BENEFIT NEST

INFORMATION & RULES
MoFA members were invited to create a "nest" using only found, recycled or second-hand materials for a special auction to benefit Nest, a non-profit organization that empowers female artists and artisans around the world. Online bidding is now CLOSED. Winning bidders will be notified on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

Techniques: artist-made paper was dyed and cast in mold with driftwood shelf

 "Love Nest" by Jennifer Weigel
Love Nest Materials: re-appropriated worn-out women's and men's clothing, wooden pant hanger, wire hanger

Techniques: The clothing was cut and tied like chainmail around the wire hoop and through itself, alternating between his and hers clothing. The hoop bent inwards so the weaving occupied the central space as well as the outside and vaguely referenced a heart. Mounted and tied to the wooden hanger.

Techniques: The random weave structure of honeysuckle trimmings from my garden is over woven blue jeans seams. A "fabric" of threads and paper/fabric project trimmiings sandwiched between tulle and stitching is tied with waxed linen.
